The Land of Sorrow – January 9, 2022

Overview

I read that this scenario had a lot of direct damage and threat raising. I thought I would take a modified version of Seastan’s Seventeen A Round Gloin deck against it. Let the scenario’s direct damage help me accelerate into a threat reducing combo with ally Nori recycling Galadhrim’s Greeting. I put in Galdor to try and get a faster start. I think that ended up being a mistake.

Postmortem

That will kill Gloin since he is only at +1 hit point right now. Even if I heal the 1 damage he has. Looks like I’ll need an Ent. Probably should go with the original Seventeen per Round list with Treebeard hero. Then I can run Ent Draught to make him safer sooner. Even then I think location lock will be an issue. There’s not much willpower to ramp up into. Probably should go with a faster Gloin deck where he only needs Lore to get the engine going. I also considered a location control deck with Elrond and a Dunedain for Ranger for Heirs of Earendil and/or Distant Stars. Then I could use Mithril Shirt and Stone of Elostirion.
