Challenge of the Wainriders with The Doom of Men – October 17, 2021

Overview

After the resounding victory at The City of Ulfast, I return to my Bond of Friendship deck. While Burglar’s Turn and Caldara were fun, I wanted to play one of my own creations again. I also wasn’t quite sure how best to approach the strong stats and quick set up needed according to the Vision of the Palantir. This deck was mostly built, and I thought my 2 strong questers, decent attacker, and strong defender line up might suffice once again. It didn’t start off too badly until I hit a certain location…

I’m calling the game right there.

Postmortem

Crowded Track completely stopped all my progress even with making a big questing push. I’m thinking that either I’ll need to sideboard in some location control like Strider’s Path, The Hidden Way, or Mariner’s Compass or use a different deck. I’m leaning towards using a Dale deck of some kind since Guardian’s of Esgaroth would provide a lot of the questing and combat power. Mariner’s Compasses could go on North Realm Lookouts to get rid of Crowded Tracks easily enough. Healing might be an issue though. A Saruman Doomed deck might be fun to try as well. I’ll think about it and see which way appeals to me.
