Temple of Doom with Rohan Harrying Force x2 – August 22, 2021

Overview

It’s a playthrough double feature! The first of the two attempts is pretty short. The encounter deck really went aggro and I didn’t have Golden Shield or Hama to help keep them at bay. The next attempt was a very solid one and I even make it through a stage 2! I do end up seeing 2 banes of my games with this quest though, Khamul and Shrine to Sauron.

Second Attempt Postmortem

I’m calling it there. I almost kept Thengel back in case another enemy came out. Then I could have possibly defended everything. Once I had Horn, I thought I would have been able to bounce back but not drawing any more allies really hurt the engine. Next 6 cards were allies! Well I made it through 1 quest stage. The Shrine to Sauron is just a board state killer. I remember now running into that with my multiplayer game. A Council of the Wise deck would mitigate it’s forced effect quite a bit. It’s possible I could make that work with Thengel, Lothiriel, and relying more on chump blocking if I can count on getting Horn of the Mark or Gamling into play. I also have a Council of the Wise deck with Ingold hero that could probably reliably chump block Khamul and Ulchor. Some new ideas to consider until I try this one again.
